Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel Memorial Highway

fussballmeister:

State lawmakers didn’t sit still after a neo-Nazi group adopted a stretch of highway in Springfield, Missouri to clean up periodically.  The lawmakers added an amendment to a bill, renaming that portion of the road after a prominent leader, who fled the Nazis’ advance in Europe and became a prominent theologian and civil rights advocate in the United States before his death in 1972.

Thusly, the neo-Nazis will be paying for the upkeep of the Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel Memorial Highway.

“State lawmakers” is actually code for Representative Sara Lampe (D-138) who is my friend, “boss”, and mentor.  She did a bang-up job battling statewide for the funding and support of this amendment and we’re super proud.  …Which reminds me, I have work to do.
